Words of Encouragement

I am Dr. Guillermo Vasco and today, I’d like to take you on a journey, a journey of strength, resilience, and rigorous strides on the pathway of education and rehabilitation. A journey that paints a picture of ascending a towering mountain, braving challenges, encountering setbacks but relentlessly forging ahead to attain that coveted peak - freedom through education.

Today, I am privileged to stage this podium not only as a Christian Pastor, but as a staunch advocate for education and rehabilitation. While I was incarcerated, my quest for freedom took on a seemingly unattainable summit. I was initially overwhelmed by its magnitude, but it was there that I first wielded my most effective weapon - a dedication to transformative learning and a commitment to Christian principles.

Throughout my incarceration, I undertook a mission to pursue educational programs and courses dedicated to personal growth, rehabilitation, and the development of valuable life skills. My climb was arduous, yes, but each step denoted a victorious achievement toward my personal and academic growth.

My journey through the valleys and peaks of education led me to invest my time in a range of rehabilitation programs. Each program served its purpose, together carving a staircase of progress and hope that pointed toward the mountain's summit. Among these, our faith-based programs held a special place and influence. I personally experienced the transformative power of Christian Education in pushing me further in my pursuit of freedom and facilitating personal improvement and rehabilitation.

Upon this path, my commitment to Christian values and beliefs remained steadfast. I voraciously consumed Christian teachings, and this not only shaped my spiritual growth, but also fortified my resolve to excel academically. The Christian education I received buttressed my journey and stirred in me a passion for servitude, compassion, and love, which I hereby impart as a Christian Pastor.

I must affirm that my course of rehabilitation has been one of extraordinary efforts, remarkable strides, and priceless lessons. My experience stands as a testament to my resolve, befitting to bestow upon every incarcerated individual an opportunity, a viable pathway to transcend their challenges.

Challenging yourself academically is about equipping yourself with the best climbing gear. Just as the right pair of boots, reliable ropes, and supporting guides are essential for climbing a mountain, so too is a commitment to learning, self-improvement, and faith necessary to reach the pinnacle of freedom.

In conclusion, I want to convey that my mountain might have been steep, but the view from the summit made the climb exceedingly worthwhile. The transformation I embarked upon within those walls, the insights I gained from my relentless pursuit of education, and the resilience fostered through my Christian values, have all culminated in the person I am today.

Ladies and Gentlemen, no mountain is too high for those who resolve to scale it. Education is a sure pathway to tackling obstacles and achieving freedom, and faith can be a significant catalyst to propel one towards the summit.

And so, I stand before you, not just as Dr. Guillermo Vasco, but as a testament of resilience, change, and the boundless possibilities embedded in embracing education and rehabilitation.

Thank you Jesus for your Love and Grace that saved a wretch like me according to your purpose. (Jeremiah 29:11)
